I grew up reading things like Greek Mythology, as well as Roman Mythology. While I preferred Greek, I knew that I wanted to do something more when I started writing. The gods were a sexist group with the men always being led around by their dangly parts, and the women turned into vengeful harpies for wanting their men to be faithful. As the years went on, I decided that my Gods would be Goddesses, and not just simpering women, but powerful fascinating creatures that made mistakes and found ways to dig themselves out of the holes they put themselves in.
I fell in love with a video game Goddess called Elphame from The Realm Online. She was a bad ass, who was swift with her justice and took absolutely no crap from anyone.
I fashioned Noxia, the Supreme Goddess, ruler of the Divine Ones from my imagination, based on the ideals of my favorite Goddess. She grew into six dynamic females that each have just as many flaws as great characteristics.
So, my question to you today... is which Goddess are you?
1. If you were in the Mall, and some thin little waif of a female just grabbed the shirt you were eying, and then had the audacity to look better in it than you would... What do you do?
A. You rip it from her skinny twig like fingers and toss her a $100 for her trouble.
B. You trip her, pretend it was an accident, and as you help her up, steal the shirt back while pretending to care for her bruises.
C. You let her have the shirt, after all, she was there first and you prefer green anyway.
D. You let her keep the shirt and offer to pay for it.
E. You cause a scene to make it look like she's shop lifting, and laugh at her as they arrest her.
F. You kill him. All humans deserve to die like the parasites they are.
2. A guy at work gets the promotion that you've worked your butt off for. He neither deserves it, nor has the credentials that you have... What do you do?
A. You seduce him, make him your love slave until he steps down and gives you the promotion you rightfully deserved.
B. You pretend to help him succeed while undermining him and throwing roadblocks in his way until he is fired.
C. You send in your daughter to browbeat him until he resigns. Everyone knows your daughter is the scariest creature alive.
D. You work with him, side by side, ensuring his success, a selfless act that makes you a dynamic member of his team.
E. You convince the higher ups that he's embezzling funds, and anything else you can think of to make him look bad.
F. You kill him. All humans deserve to die like the parasites they are.
3. A man hits on you in the bar, he's not bad looking and you have nothing better to do this evening... What do you do?
A. You let him buy your drinks, while feeding into his ego, letting him think you'd let him put his mortal hands on your body. .
B. Take him to the back room, get him all hot and bothered then laugh at his meager attempts at seduction.
C. Laugh at him because you know your ex-husband is going to skin him alive if he even thinks another man would attempt to touch you.
D. Smile and softly explain that while you are flattered, that you love all of mankind and could never be tied to one person.
E. Turn him on, grind against him in the bar, then make his clothes disappear so all the women in the bar can giggle at the package he wanted to share with you.
F. You kill him. All humans deserve to die like the parasites they are.
If your answers were mostly A's - You are just like Noxia! The Supreme rulers of the Divine One. She is a take charge, no holds barred woman who is just as good as she is bad. She will protect her Goddesses with her life and values her children more than anything else in the universe.
If your answers were mostly B's - You are just like Edereu! The Goddess of Death and Judgement. Edereu is a dual goddess, meaning she's filled with just as much light as she is darkness. Depending on her mood, she's either the nicest person in your corner, or the one about to stab you in the back. She's always ruled by her emotions.
If your answers were mostly C's - You are just like Tatiana! The Goddess of the Elements. Known as mother nature to mankind, she values the lives of her daughters and will keep doing well by the humans as long as they don't meddle with her children's lives.
If your answers were mostly D's - You are just like Jaebo! The Goddess of Love is a pure light Goddess. She would never harm another living soul and goes out of her way to ensure the humans are protected from the other creatures that inhabit the earth.
If your answers were mostly E's - You are just like Killana! Killana is the Goddess of Chaos and Strife. With an attention span the size of a gnat, she amuses herself by causing wars amongst the humans. Every great disaster can be laid directly at her footsteps.
If your answers were mostly F's - You are just like Ulma - The Goddess of War. Ulma hates humans, she thinks they are nothing more than parasites and cockroaches that inhabit a planet they neither deserve nor cherish. A long painful death awaits anyone who crosses her.
You can meet all the Goddess in the three Divine Ones books that are currently out.

My first book in the Loves of Olympus series is Medusa, ALove Story. It’s getting fantastic reviews (yay!). All the yummy men above are in it! All the yummy men above are in it! But the hero, Ariston, is a lowly mortal… He’s not too shabby though. I see him as the delectable Alex Pettyfer (more Beastly than Magic Mike).

1 Night Stand: Why Choose a One-Night Stand?: by Heather Long When I wrote my first one-night stand last November, I asked myself the question of why would this couple need Madame Eve? Why would any couple actually need a Madame Eve to hook them up?
Author Virginia Nelson interviews Pietr Sauvage from The Taming of the Thief - As you all know, I feel deeply in crush with Max from Heather Long’s The Love Thieves (you can read that blog here.) Much to my dismay, when Iinterviewed him, he explained that Anya had his heart. Lucky for me, Max has a super sexy cousin who is still single and he hooked me up with his number.

Billionaire Pietr Sauvage is neck deep in the hunt for The Fortunate Buddha when a lead draws him to New York and thrusts him into the life of art history specialist Sophie. Lost in the shadow of intrigue and danger, Sophie must learn to trust Pietr, a man with an agenda, a man she can’t help but desire, before the ruthless thieves steal their only chance. Raising the stakes heightens the attraction…

We're counting down to a lot of great happenings over the next few weeks. In short order:
Tomorrow - The Taming of the Thief release day. If you enjoyed The Love Thieves, you won't want to miss Max's cousin Pietr as he travels to New York on the search for The Fortunate Buddha.
Next week - Here on the Blog we'll be hosting Think Greek week with some fabulous guest bloggers like Saranna DeWylde, Kris Cook, Sasha Summers, Kristy Denice Bock and more. I love Greek Mythology, one of the very first books I remember having as a child was a pop up book about the Greek gods. These wonderful authors write their gods with a modern twist and a lot of fun. So be sure to check in.
Also next week, I will be on the road with the fantastic Claire Ashgrove heading for Anaheim to celebrate RWA 2012, so if you're there, be sure to look me up, There's only going to be about two thousand of us, I shouldn't be that hard to find *wink*
In August, I'll be heading to AAD 2012 in NOLA and we hope to have the release of a full length follow-up novel to Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here in your hot little hands.
September marks the month of the Superhero on my blog, it will be all superheroes all the time as we count down to the launch of Yesterday's Heroes on September 18. I can't tell you how excited I am for this novel. I'll also be co-teaching a boot camp in September with the fabulous Candace Havens. A lot of folks have been asking me about the writing and how I get so much done, well I credit a lot to Fast Draft from Candy and more - so be on the lookout for those details..
Be sure to follow along with my blog tour appearances which will be posted above. Can you believe we're only halfway through summer?

I wrote my first, saleable novel, however in my twenties and even then, I wasn't ready for it, but I never stopped writing. From 2000 to 2009, I wrote at least a few thousand words a month and kept trying, but could never quite break into publishing. 2009 changed a lot of that for me and after I sold that first book, you know what I did?
Yup, I kept on writing.
But How Do You Write a Book? What's Your Process?
This is the second most commonly asked question. My process is to put my butt in the chair and start writing. I set goals. I meet those goals. Writing is very much like an exercise program--it all sounds good in theory, but it takes regular practice, regular writing, to build up those muscles. Writing a book is also a marathon and not a sprint. You can sprint while you write, but you can't sprint all the way to the end. I've written 47,000 words in two days before. I do not recommend it.
As often as I write, I still managed to strain something in my brain. So if you're just starting out, commit to five hundred words a day for a week. When that gets easy, make it a thousand. When that's easy, two thousand. And that's how you write a book.
What about Research? What about Edits?
As Nora Roberts says, you can't edit a blank page so refer to answer numbers one and two.As for research, I try to look up anything I don't know or need to know before I start writing--however, if I come across something I'm not certain about while I'm writing, I make a note in the text and then I keep writing. I don't stop. When I'm done, I can "fact" check and get back to it. If I think it's majorly important, I can check my facts after the day's writing session.
So if you want to write a book, put your butt in the chair and keep going. It's not glamorous, it's not flashy, but it's effective.

At 4:30 a.m. on July 5th, I got up, made coffee and settled into my garage in what in the last year has become my official writing chair. Booting up my laptop, I started writing the book that would eventually become Marshal of Hel Dorado. Every day, rain or shine, no matter what else I had on my agenda, the first three hours of every day were devoted to writing. I began generating an average of 5,000 words a day.
Over the next twelves months, I wrote eighteen books, five of which were shorts, three of which were novellas, and ten full length in excess of seventy-thousand word novels. The following list is a rough of the books completed in the last year, including titles and word count. In November 2011, my publisher Sapphire Blue closed its doors and five of my releases were pulled from the shelves and two more, ready to go were put on hold.

About the Marine Corp
This truism is now the official motto of the Marine Corps League. The origin of the statement is credited to a gung-ho Marine Corps master sergeant, Paul Woyshner. During a barroom argument he shouted, “Once a Marine, always a Marine!” MSgt. Woyshner was right. Once the title “U.S. Marine” has been earned, it is retained. There are no ex-Marines or former-Marines. There are active duty Marines, retired Marines, reserve Marines, and Marine veterans. Nonetheless, once one has earned the title, he remains a Marine for life. - USMC Heritage
Always a Marine
1Night Stand is the business name of an exclusive online dating service run by Madame Evangeline who provides her clients with a possibility of happily ever after or happily for now.
Always a Marine is dedicated to finding happiness for the men and women in uniform. The series currently features five titles:
Once Her Man Always Her Man
Can Luke and Rebecca bridge the pain of a decade long abandonment in one cold Texas night?
Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here
Logan, Jazz and Zach shared everything, but will one night be enough?
Tell It To The Marine
Take one Marine and introduce him to the movie star of his dreams and it sounds like a script right out of Hollywood, but for James Westwood and Lauren Kincaid, reality just might be the ticket they’ve both been searching for…
Proud To Serve Her
Sparks fly, wine pours and what follows is a total seduction of the senses as Damon prepares a birthday that Helena will never forget.
The last thing either expected was a soul deep connection that brings them both wonder, but is the spark of lust enough to bring these two loners in from the cold?

Shannon Fabray is a sculpture artist and her love of the pure masculine body is demonstrated in every work of aesthetic art she creates. But her passion for the body doesn't extend into her personal life after a hellish experience in college left her with nowhere to turn but her work. After several criticisms about the lack of passion in her sculptures, Shannon is determined to face her fears and take desire by the balls. A one-night stand should do the trick.
2nd Lt. Brody Essex is an active duty Marine with one goal: come home, get rested, go back. Brody isn’t interested in a date arranged through Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service like the rest of his friends from the Corps have had, but he doesn’t hesitate to fill in for a Brother who can’t go on his own.
The last thing either Shannon or Brody expect is a wondrous, soul deep connection, but is the spark of lust enough to bring the two loners in from the cold?
The woman's voice perfumed the lyrics with forbidden promises. Servers in unrelieved black slipped in and around the tables, delivering drinks and food without disturbing the spell woven on the stage. The woman's sultry Italian didn't detract from the emotion.
Captivated, Brody stared as she massaged emotion from the music. His heart thudded a quiet counterpoint. Everything in the room hushed, from the whispers at the tables to the movement of the wait staff. When a man strolled out to meet the woman, she turned and caught his hand. He took up the song and it transformed from something provocative to a note that squeezed around his heart.
An echo of movement next to him tugged his gaze from the stage. A pixie took her place next to him. Her short black curls pinned carefully to frame her porcelain skin. "They are singing about goodbye," she murmured, her voice almost too low to be heard over the voices twining together, lovers dancing around the notes of the man's baritone and the woman's husky alto.
"I don't know the words," he followed her lead, loathe to break the spell spinning between the two. Somewhere on the stage, dancers moved, but they were so understated, he didn't doubt the crowd wasn't quite aware of them.
"When I'm alone, I dream of the horizon and words fail me. There is no light in a room where there is no sun." The woman's words traced the underlying score of the singing. "And there is no sun if you're not here with me. From every window unfurls my heart, the heart you have won into me you've poured the light, this light you found by the side of the road."
Oddly, tears pricked the back of his eyes at the sweet little catch the pixie woman's voice. Pulling his gaze from the performers, he canted his head. Moisture glittered around the woman's impossibly long eyelashes, but she watched the singers, one hand toying with a coin hanging by a silver chain around her neck.
"She tells him it's time to say goodbye, places that I've never seen or experienced with you, now I shall. I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas, seas that will exist no more. It's time to say goodbye."
